Position Summary

The Sales Applications Specialist is responsible for driving revenue growth by supporting customers with technically accurate quotes, solutions, and product recommendations for complex cable assembly and interconnect applications. This role sits at the intersection of sales and engineering, acting as a key liaison between customers and internal teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood, quoted accurately, and executed to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Sales & Quoting

    • Review customer RFQs, drawings, and specifications to develop accurate and competitive quotes
    • Interpret technical requirements and collaborate with engineering and production to ensure feasibility
    • Recommend product solutions, materials, and configurations based on customer needs
    • Follow up on quotes to drive conversion and revenue growth
  • Customer Engagement

    • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customers, providing both commercial and technical support
    • Manage inbound and outbound communications to identify needs and generate opportunities
    • Communicate lead times, order status, and technical clarifications clearly and proactively
    • Build strong customer relationships through responsiveness and problem-solving
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner closely with engineering, quality, production, and purchasing teams to align on customer requirements
    • Support resolution of technical questions, discrepancies, and quality concerns
    • Ensure all customer requirements are properly documented and communicated internally
  • Continuous Improvement & Development

    • Build knowledge of cable assemblies, interconnect systems, and applicable industry standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, etc.)
    • Identify opportunities to improve quoting accuracy, turnaround time, and customer experience
    • Participate in ongoing training to strengthen both technical and sales capabilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field preferred (not required)
  • Experience

    • 2+ years of experience in inside sales, customer service, or quoting role
    • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace/defense, or technical sales strongly preferred
  • Knowledge & Skills

    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, or specifications (preferred)
    • Strong problem-solving mindset with mechanical or technical aptitude
    • Understanding of manufacturing processes or willingness to learn quickly
    • Experience with CRM/ERP systems and Microsoft Office
    • Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts clearly
    • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
