Key Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate mental health cases for accession and special-duty determinations
- Conduct clinical interviews and telehealth assessments for applicants
- Interpret Air Force and DoD medical standards (DAFMAN 48-123, DoDI 6130.03, etc.)
- Prepare detailed case summaries and provide recommendations for waiver decisions
- Track and manage cases through the full review lifecycle using HQ AFAC systems
- Cook up with military treatment facilities and consultants (WHASC, SAMMC, etc.)
- Aid in policy development, updates, and responses to case inquiries or appeals
- Ensure timely and accurate case processing (within 20 business days)
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and Privacy Act requirements
- Support briefings, meetings, and special projects as needed
Required Experience
- Prior military service required (USAF experience strongly preferred)
- Minimum 3 years (within last 15 years) as a Biomedical Science Corps officer/psychologist
- Experience with deployments and military operational environments
- Strong background in military medical standards, waiver reviews, and policy interpretation
- Experience conducting psychological evaluations for special duty and accession applicants
- Experience performing adaptability rating assessments
Education & Licensure
- Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) or equivalent (PhD)
- Completion of residency/internship approved by the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General
- Active, unrestricted psychology license in good standing (no adverse actions in past 10 years)

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based systems
