Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Aeronautical Engineer or Principal Aeronautical Engineer to support the B2 Subsystems team. This position is located in Palmdale, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical wiring designs of functional systems, including selection of aircraft-type conductors and electro-mechanical components such as connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, and terminal junction systems.
  • Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion, and distribution systems, and circuit protective requirements for aerospace vehicle systems, including Electrical Loads Analysis, test procedures, power architectures, reports, analyses, and other vehicle power-related deliverables.
  • Responsible for all aspects of system/component design and development, including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test and verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement; may participate on a subcontractor management team.
  • Plan, support, and execute system-level test activities, including verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform system-level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
  • Create hydraulic and electrical schematics for functional systems, selecting aircraft-type conductors and electromechanical components (connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, terminal junction systems).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM).
  • Engineer level: Minimum 2 years of experience in aerospace structural design (or MS degree in STEM with 0 years of experience).
  • Principal level: Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace structural design (or MS degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience).
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of complex problem-solving.
  • Experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems.
  • Ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain a U.S. adjudicated government Secret clearance and any required program access within a reasonable period.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Government Secret (or higher) clearance with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
  • Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, including requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration, test, and verification for advanced aircraft.
  • Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.

Pay

  • Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800 – $137,600
  • Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000 – $171,000

The above salary ranges represent general guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
