Aerial Lineman (Local Work)

About the role

The Aerial Lineman builds and maintains aerial telephone systems which can consist of aerial and underground facilities. Responsibilities

• Planning and initiating projects.
• Interaction with customers, utility owners and governmental officials.
• Establishing and conforming to OSHA and customer safety requirements.
• Assist in the construction of new aerial and underground services and service upgrades.
• Training and mentoring of Aerial Groundman.
• Tree trimming or route clearing.
• Use of care of specialized hand tools and required equipment.
• Operating heavy equipment such as Digger and Bucket Truck.

Requirements

Work Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience as an Aerial Groundman, preferred.

Industry Knowledge: Thorough understanding of aerial utility installation, safety regulations and work methods associated with aerial line work.

• Valid Driver’s License, Class A CDL preferred.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings.
• Demonstrated field experience working with Aerial crews.
• Thorough knowledge of electricity, pole-line materials, the proper and safe use of tools and equipment used in line construction and maintenance.
• Familiar with the aerial safety codes and practices, and work methods associated with aerial line work.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Willingness to learn.
• Ability to maintain required equipment and tools.
• Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Abide all company and manufacturer safety procedures and industry safety standards, in addition to attending mandatory safety meetings.

Physical and Environmental Factors:

• Ability to work outdoors and to work in all types of outdoor weather.
