Aerial Laborer

About the Role

FiberTel, LLC is hiring an Aerial Laborer for our Albuquerque, NM location. In this role, you will support all phases of utility construction for various telecom projects, including placing poles, anchors, aerial strand and cable, trenching, boring, and underground conduit systems.

Responsibilities

• Load, drive, deliver, dig, remove, and place various types, sizes, and weights of construction materials and equipment.
• Hand dig using shovels and mechanical tools.
• Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling.
• Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
• Work in congested or remote areas while maintaining visual and audible contact with crew members.
• Perform general construction work under the direction of a Foreman/Supervisor.
• Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to all regulations and policies.
• Assist operators and foremen as assigned.
• Set up, prepare, and clean up construction sites.
• Develop an understanding of buried utilities.
• Lift heavy equipment and supplies.

Requirements

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible and willing to obtain one.
• Good driving record required.
• Basic knowledge of and ability to operate utility trucks and equipment safely.
• Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools safely.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus (higher wage scales apply).
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees.
• Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunication industry.
• Able to perform all duties in telecommunication construction.
• Ability to travel.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. The role operates in an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme weather conditions (cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and wind). Work environments vary daily, including changes in terrain, traffic, urban, and rural settings. Occasional exposure to natural gas and electrical shock risks. Moderate to loud noise levels may be present.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods (up to 12 hours).
• Tolerate work in extreme weather conditions.
• Speak and hear worksite safety instructions.
• Withstand prolonged and repeated lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, crouching, and crawling.
• Regularly lift 75 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay

$18/hr (higher wage scales apply for CDL holders).
