AEMT / EMT / PARAMEDIC - Part-time
Responsibilities
- Responding to emergencies, administering medications, and coordinating with other staff to ensure inmate health and safety.
- Aid in patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history.
- Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight, drawing blood.
- Documenting medical history including medications, treatment and medical conditions.
- Maintaining medical equipment and supplies within the facility.
- Completing intake screenings.
- Administering and reading PPD tests.
- Ensuring the safety and security of inmates and staff during medical procedures and transport.
- Observing and reporting changes in patients' physical or mental health to nurses.
Qualifications
- Completion of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher-level Paramedic program.
- Ability to obtain necessary state licenses for EMT or Paramedic.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred).
- Criminal background check required.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
- Display integrity, professionalism, and adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR.
- Good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
NaphCare is seeking to hire an EMT or Paramedic to join their team in the Washoe County Jail in Reno, NV. Full Time Day Shifts are available! Salary range for this position is $20.90- $22.00/hr. Schedule: Biweekly rotation — Week 1: Sunday night; Week 2: Saturday night. As a Correctional EMT / Paramedic, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including assessing and treating patients, responding to emergencies and assisting with medical protocols.
