About the role
Newcomb & Boyd LLP seeks an AEC AI Technology Architect responsible for integrating artificial intelligence into AEC workflows, enhancing project documentation, coordination, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Data Management: Develop a structured data strategy for BIM, model coordination, and project documentation. Capture, organize, and analyze firmwide project data to support AI integration. Build a scalable data infrastructure for AI-driven reporting and validation.
- AI Development & Technology Integration: Develop AI-powered applications to enhance architectural and construction processes. Design and implement AI agents for internal and external project workflows. Integrate OpenAI APIs, Next.js, and LangChain to automate design and documentation. Maintain and optimize SaaS products targeting workflow automation in AEC.
- Project Management & Construction Administration: Lead AI projects from conception through deployment, ensuring alignment with project goals. Optimize AI applications for performance, user experience, and scalability. Enhance construction administration workflows with AI tools to ensure design compliance. Improve schematic design and documentation efficiency with AI-driven automation. Innovate with AR/VR and AI for VDC, BIM, and MEP coordination.
- Automation & Computational Design: Develop automation solutions using Dynamo, Grasshopper, and Python to streamline workflows. Design intuitive UX solutions for architectural documentation and coordination. Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement AI-powered optimizations.
- Leadership & Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Research and develop AI solutions to address inefficiencies in AEC workflows. Collaborate with sustainability teams to enhance LEED certification processes using AI. Coordinate with design and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of AI-driven project tools.
Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree in Architecture, Building Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in AEC project delivery, AI-driven automation, and full-stack development.
- Special Skills/Experience: With Large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures, and AI agent development for AEC applications. Collaborating with integrated Architecture, Engineering, and Construction teams to design and implement AI-powered tools for design processes. Integrating AI and machine learning models into AEC workflows using large language model APIs [e.g. OpenAI API], LLM orchestration frameworks [e.g. LangChain], and modern full stack web development frameworks [e.g. Next.js]. BIM/VDC execution and model data management using industry-standard platforms [e.g. Autodesk Suite, Revit] and parametric design tools [e.g. Rhino]. Programming and scripting across multiple languages including Python, visual scripting environments for computational design [e.g. Dynamo, Grasshopper], C#, JavaScript, and React for AEC application development. Backend development and data management using server-side JavaScript frameworks [e.g. Node.js], relational databases [e.g. SQL], and document-based databases [e.g. MongoDB]. Open-source and cloud-based generative AI tools for image synthesis [e.g. Stable Diffusion], local LLM deployment, and multimodal deep learning applications. Construction administration, QA/QC processes, and MEP coordination across commercial and residential project types. Structured data representation and data management in AEC using building information modeling standards [e.g. BIM, IFC] and project specifications. Generative AI application development for 2D documentation and 3D visualization workflows.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirements include a Master’s degree in Architecture, Building Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in AEC project delivery, AI-driven automation, and full-stack development.

- Salary range: at least $130,707/year
- Flexible work schedule: 9:00 am-5:00 pm; 40 Hrs/week (M-F)
