About the role

The Advocate, Client Services position at Womankind is dedicated to supporting survivors of gender-based violence aged 18 and older. This role involves providing counseling, case management, and advocacy support, as well as engaging in outreach and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Client Work (50%): Provide counseling and case management support for approximately 20-25 adult survivors and their families, including those who call Womankind’s 24/7 helpline. Develop service plan and safety plan goals in collaboration with clients, updating and adjusting as needed.
  • Outreach (20%): Engage in at least 1-2 outreach events a quarter, provide reporting and logistical planning support, and establish partnerships with site manager for resources near the community site.
  • Administrative (20%): Attend team site meetings, all-staff meetings, and monthly Client Services meetings, and support office operations as necessary.
  • Professional Development (10%): Attend trainings to build capacity and knowledge on work with the client community.

  • Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master’s in social work, education, or other related fields
  • Comfort and familiarity with computers, e-mail, and word processing
  • Asian language ability preferred (Cantonese, Bengali, Japanese, Urdu, Vietnamese, or Arabic)

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with program team to build a collaborative work environment

Work Schedule

This role is based at either the Brooklyn Community Site or the Queens Community Site. The work schedule is Monday to Friday 11am–7pm or Tuesday to Saturday 9am -5pm. During the first three months of the probationary period, staff are required to work on-site five days per week. After this period, staff will transition to a hybrid work schedule that includes a minimum of three in-person days per week. In-person workdays will be determined in advance based on community site needs.

Pay
