Advocate
Summary of the Position
Youth Advocate Programs (YAP), Inc. is seeking dedicated and dependable individuals to serve as Advocates supporting youth and families throughout the St. Louis area. This is a part-time, hourly position offering flexible scheduling.
Advocates play a critical role in helping youth achieve positive outcomes by serving as mentors, role models, and connectors to community resources across home, school, and community settings.
Qualifications/Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience working with at-risk youth strongly preferred
- Knowledge of local community resources and experience in community-based work
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance required
- Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) is a plus

About the Role
YAP, Inc. is a national nonprofit that provides community-based alternatives to youth incarceration and residential placement. Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, YAP partners with youth justice, child welfare, behavioral health, and education systems to deliver individualized, wraparound services that keep youth safely in their homes and communities.
The model focuses on building strong relationships with youth and families, connecting them to local resources, and supporting positive life outcomes through strength-based, culturally responsive approaches. Advocates work directly in the community to help participants develop skills, meet goals, and strengthen family and community connections.
