Advocate
Summary of the Position
Advocates provide guidance and support to participants and families helping them make positive life choices, build self-confidence, and develop leadership skills. This is an hourly, part-time position serving youth and families throughout Pasco County and Pinellas County.
Primary Responsibilities
- Initiate, organize, plan, develop and implement direct advocacy services to assigned participant and their families.
- All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap around model.
- Assess the needs of youth and follow individualized service plans.
- Advocate for youth in various settings.
- Monitor and report on the progress of youth.
- Develop and maintain relationships with families and caregivers.
- Offer crisis intervention when needed.
- Promote positive behavior and decision-making.
- Aid in accessing resources such as housing, healthcare, and employment.
Qualifications/Requirements
- A minimum High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with youth.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer knowledge.
