Advocate

Summary of the Position

Advocates provide guidance and support to participants and families helping them make positive life choices, build self-confidence, and develop leadership skills. This is an hourly, part-time position serving youth and families throughout Pasco County and Pinellas County.

Primary Responsibilities

• Initiate, organize, plan, develop and implement direct advocacy services to assigned participant and their families.
• All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap around model.
• Assess the needs of youth and follow individualized service plans.
• Advocate for youth in various settings.
• Monitor and report on the progress of youth.
• Develop and maintain relationships with families and caregivers.
• Offer crisis intervention when needed.
• Promote positive behavior and decision-making.
• Aid in accessing resources such as housing, healthcare, and employment.

Qualifications/Requirements

• A minimum High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with youth.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer knowledge.
