Summary of Duties
Provides support by performing the following duties of The Woodlands Township Adventure Course. Ensures a safe visitor experience and provides excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist visitors or direct them to the appropriate staff member, including fitting customers with harnesses, helmets and other required gear.
- Provide on course assistance to customers which includes but is not limited to addressing questions/fears, spotting issues with gear, and assisting customers off the course if not able to continue.
- Answer phones; answer routine questions or direct calls to the appropriate staff member, take messages as needed.
- Perform cash handling duties, make change, and input fees and issues receipts. Record amount received and prepares report of transactions using computer software.
- Monitor users of the Adventure Course to ensure orderly conduct and patrons are following Course rules/regulations.
- Assist Course users in their Adventure Course experience which includes but is not limited to rescues, talking users through a difficult obstacle, managing users and the flow of course traffic, etc.
- Provide information on programs, activities and events in person or by phone.
- Provide general clerical support including typing, filing and copying.
- Utilize company software to enroll customers in programs.
- Receive and issue recreation equipment (helmets, harness, carabineers, etc.) and supplies.
- Input data into computer for registration process.
- Perform facility opening and closing procedures, such as ensuring the facility is secure and ready for the next day’s operation.
- Aid with Course programs, activities, special projects and events as required.
- Must be comfortable climbing and working at heights of up to 50 ft.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- Have the physical capability to assist and accommodate guests of various sizes throughout the course, including rescues
- Be able to hike, climb and rappel to and from heights of up to 50 feet above the ground
- Possess a full range of overhead arm motions.
- Have full hand dexterity
- Have strong upper body to pull self and the potential addition of 275 pounds more along each cable’s incline
- Be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Be able to decrease the speed of and stop patrons of various weights and speeds.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Conditions
- Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards
- Majority of the work is performed outside or with exposure to risk
- Occasional physical effort is required
- Noisy environment
- Safety-sensitive position
Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- One (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must possess a Texas driver’s license within the first ninety (90) days of employment and meet the driver safety policy requirements
- Obtain course specific training Level I Certification from ACCT (Association of Challenge Course Technology) within three months of employment
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Pass pre-employment drug screening, pass background check, and eligible status on Motor Vehicle Report
