About the role
This position is responsible for developing and executing a wide range of events for The Lovett School, including but not limited to Board meetings, parent receptions, alumni events, and fundraising events. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in event planning and fundraising, preferably in a nonprofit or independent school setting.
Responsibilities
- Develop a forward-thinking and sophisticated strategy for event planning, focusing on donor, parent, alumni, and school leadership needs.
- Plan, oversee, coordinate, and execute all aspects of advancement and alumni events, including logistical planning, layout, registration, RSVP tracking, day-of management, and post-event evaluation.
- Manage events from inception to execution, including budgeting, vendor management, communications, and data systems management.
- Partner with teammates to execute their vision and help them reach their goals for each event.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of experience in event planning and fundraising, preferably in a nonprofit or independent school environment.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across varied constituencies.
- Highly organized with superior attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously.
- High energy, self-starting, and flexible - with strong prioritization and multitasking skills.
- Initiative and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Creativity and a positive attitude.
- Willingness and flexibility to manage and participate in evening and weekend events as needed.
- Appreciation of The Lovett School’s mission and community.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited university preferred.
- Experience with event management software such as Raiser’s Edge.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit and independent school fundraising practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
