Advancement Communications Specialist

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and assess an Advancement communications plan for Engagement and Development activities (including calendar, timeline, content, ownership, etc.).
  • Manage the portfolio of Advancement communications to ensure that messaging contracts are consistent, cohesive, and compelling, and that the means of distributing that content is appropriate and effective (e.g., website, email, social media, video, photography, direct mail, publications, etc.).
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the University’s Marketing and Communications team (e.g., managing assignments, support requests, workflow, prioritizing projects); ensure alignment of planning and messaging with core brand.
  • Create and/or edit content in partnership with Advancement colleagues (e.g., appeals, alumni e-newsletters, spiritual reflections, invitations, web copy, stewardship/impact reports, etc.).
  • Develop and produce original graphic designs and visual assets for Advancement initiatives, including print and digital communications, fundraising appeals, campaign materials, event invitations and collateral, donor and stewardship materials, social media graphics, presentations, signage, and other promotional materials.
  • Translate Advancement priorities and fundraising messages into compelling visual concepts that effectively communicate donor impact, University initiatives, campaign priorities, and opportunities for engagement.
  • Manage the layout, design, and visual presentation of Advancement communications across digital and print platforms, ensuring materials are professional, accessible, visually engaging, and consistent with Neumann University’s brand standards.
  • Develop and manage content for layout and design of Advancement’s web presence, in close partnership with subject matter experts (e.g., campaign, annual giving, alumni relations, Advancement events).
  • Manage and report on analytics for Advancement web, email, and social media efforts.
  • Partner with Marketing colleagues on social media strategies (e.g., campaign, donor impact, giving days, Homecoming).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing and/or digital media.
  • Experience in using web and design tools such as HubSpot and Adobe Creative Suite/Canva is required.
  • Strong communicator with impeccable writing and editing skills.
  • Able to create and manage engaging, multi-media communications plans.
