Job Description As an Advanced Systems Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will be instrumental in designing and developing advanced aerospace systems that meet rigorous performance and safety standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate complex systems and ensure their seamless operation within aerospace applications. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Olathe, KS location on a 100% on-site work schedule. In this role, you will impact the development of cutting-edge aerospace technologies that enhance flight safety, efficiency, and innovation, contributing to Honeywell's leadership in the aerospace industry. Help to build a strong, diverse team by recruiting talent, identifying, and developing successors, driving retention and engagement, and fostering an inclusive culture Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include: Provide technical support for RadAlt products in the factory, whether in development phase or full-rate production.Work with technicians and operations staff to address issues or failures observed when processing units, leading RCCA where/when applicable.Work producibility projects process improvement tasking as related to RadAlt productsSupport NPI (new product introduction) program activities in production. Secondary Responsibilities Include Provide support to existing programs and as skills/familiarity quickly develop - operate independently on tasks/programsDevelop requirements and system architecture – perform trade studiesDesign to meet requirements (discipline dependent)Test and validate designs – in prototype phase and for formal compliance – on bench, at off-site test facilities, and flight testing with both Honeywell and customerDraft respective program artifacts, inclusive of items such as systems requirement document, test procedures and reports, white papers, etc.Participate in proposals and cost estimation“Jump in” and support other team members when/where neededPerform RCCA on issues that arise during developmentStay abreast of industry standards and trends and distill into actionable activities for team, programs, and products.Provide “expert” recommendations to engineering and business leadership to evaluate decisions on pursuits, developments, and product roadmaps and strategies Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics. 5+ years Aerospace related work experience 5+ years of experience in prototyping, Trade Study, and Hardware Cost Modeling experience 5+ years of experience in hands-on troubleshooting experience with electronic hardware and related test equipment 1+ years of real-time in-person collaboration experience with functions outside engineering WE VALUE RF based systems/designs/architecture and related challengesAerospace exposure & experienceFamiliarity with electronics and RF disciplinesKnowledge of aircraft avionics and how they are used in commercial and military aircraftUnderstanding of applicable and current areas of FAA, TSO process, and MOPS content related to radar altimeters and their respective development and formal certificationPrevious working exposure to DO-254 and DO-178Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things doneMulti-tasking and can manage a variety of complicated tasksAbility to drive activity execution & report appropriate status to stakeholdersHas excellent leadership, interpersonal, & communication skillsGood communication skills include the ability to directly engage and influence others in change initiatives — including process, productivity and globalization.
