Advanced Step Apprentice/Journeyman Gas Technician - Waite Park, MN

We anticipate the need for one or more Advanced Step Apprentice Gas Technician / Journeyman Gas Technician positions located at our Waite Park Service Center in Waite Park, MN. The successful applicant must reside within 20 miles of the Waite Park Service Center.

Pay

The rate of pay for a Journeyman is $52.25 hourly. Apprentice pay varies by step:

• 3rd Step: 75% of the Journeyman rate ($39.19/hour)
• 4th Step: 81.25% of the Journeyman rate ($42.47/hour)
• 5th Step: 87.50% of the Journeyman rate ($45.72/hour)
• 6th Step: 93.75% of the Journeyman rate ($49.00/hour)

Responsibilities

• District regulator maintenance
• Odorization and meter testing
• Instrument calibration
• Meter and large regulator sizing, maintenance, and installation
• Plastic pipe fusion
• Service regulators and odorization
• Tapping and operational surveys
• Customer priority work
• Fitting and equipment operation
• Gas leak investigation and emergency response (inside and outside)
• Gas leak repair
• Cathodic protection
• Locating utilities
• Meter reading
• Valve maintenance
• Material handling

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Class A commercial driver’s license (must meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR Parts 382 and 391)
• Three or more years of Gas Construction and/or Gas service experience
• Gas Technician experience preferred
• Ability to lift 50 pounds safely
• Must reside within twenty miles of the service center
• Must meet Operator Qualification requirements

Special Requirements

• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships in a team-oriented environment
• Direct customer contact experience desirable
• Subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements
• Must pass the Gas Respirator Qualification test
• Subject to residency requirements and on-call duty on a rotating basis
• May require rotating or off-shift working hours
