Advanced Practitioner OB - Full-time Nights
About the role
Under general supervision, provides care for pregnant and post-partum adolescent and adult patients. Education: Certified Nurse Practitioner Program OR Physician Assistant Program. Experience: OB experience preferred. License: Current certification with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Certified Nurse Midwife OR Certified Women’s Health or Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner OR Licensed Physician Assistant. Completion of "Healthcare Provider" CPR course. Valid agreement with Chairman of dept and appropriate Board.
Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for the initial evaluation and treatment of admitted and triage obstetrical patients.
- Performs admission history and physical as evidenced by appropriate documentation.
- Writes standard orders in accordance with hospital policy.
- Writes appropriate orders related to pre-existing conditions.
- Discusses with the attending physician and nursing staff physical and/or emotional findings which may interfere with obstetrical care.
- Evaluates patient progress on a continuing basis and in collaboration with the attending physician; alters treatment modalities.
- Makes daily rounds on assigned patient.
- Writes progress notes at least daily documenting pertinent information regarding patient progress and treatment regime.
- Writes orders appropriate to the patient's care requirements in compliance with existing protocols.
- Establishes medical diagnoses in compliance with protocols.
- Refers to the attending physician or designee those problems which require consultation and documents same on progress note.
- Makes immediate referral of acute and or life threatening patient conditions to attending physician or designee.
- Documents physical findings and treatment plan.
- Performs technical functions according to the contract.
- Documents results of technical functions performed.
- Reports to physician or designee any abnormal findings related to same.
- Makes immediate referral of acute and or life threatening patient conditions to attending physician or designee.
- Monitors patient response related to technical function performed and documents same.
- Contributes to safe and quality care.
- Performs as Surgical First Assistant on c-sections, tubal ligations, and cervical sutures.
- Performs clinical functions according to the contract and medical by-laws.
- Documents results of technical functions performed.
- Reports to physician or designee any abnormal findings related to same.
- Makes immediate referral of acute and or life threatening patient conditions to attending physician or designee.
- Monitors patient response related to technical function performed and documents same.
- Performs activities to meet patient/family educational needs.
- Participates actively in health teaching of patient and family to include preventative health care as well as current medical condition and treatment regime.
- Evidence of same by documentation on progress note and/or established flow sheet.
- Plans and reviews home care instructions with patient and family if needed. Includes needs for service provided by community resources and hospital based ancillary services.
Skills
- A high level of analytical ability required in order to assess patients and implement appropriate intervention.
- Strong interpersonal skills required to effectively interact with staff, physicians, patients, and family members.
- Able to perform as Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room.

Pay
Pay Range: $82,774.65 - $137,823.94 Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
