Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (or Physician Assistant) - Hematology
About the role
The Benign Hematology section provides outstanding care to patients with cancer who have diseases of the blood. Our goals are:
- To provide clinical support for patients with cancer who have non-malignant disorders of bleeding, thrombosis, platelets, red cells and white cells.
- To work collaboratively with primary providers to optimize clinical outcomes, including long-term outcomes.
- To identify and explore areas of research - both basic and clinical - that provide avenues to improved standards-of-care for patients with cancer who are suffering from blood diseases.
- To educate patients, students, post-doctoral trainees, mid-level providers and physician colleagues about the impact and natural history of hematological disorders that emerge or complicate the course of a patient's cancer and its treatment.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate for this position will be a skilled Advanced Practice Provider with a strong foundation in oncology and a genuine passion for caring for patients with complex benign hematologic conditions. This role supports the Benign Hematology section, which delivers exceptional care to patients with cancer who develop non malignant disorders of the blood, including abnormalities of bleeding, thrombosis, platelets, red cells, and white cells.
- To succeed in this role, the candidate should bring at least two years of oncology experience, specifically in the diagnosis and management of patients in the outpatient setting.
- Experience caring for patients with cancer related or treatment related hematologic challenges is desirable.
- A strong clinical interest in the management of thrombosis is essential, with additional interest in other benign hematologic conditions such as iron deficiency anemia.
- This role will require 100% onsite presence during initial mandatory department training.

- Doctorate Nursing Practice.
