About the role

Provides healthcare services at a detention facility, managing health problems and coordinating care for patients according to state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manages health problems and coordinates health care for patients
  • Serve as a resource for patients in need of care information, counseling, and guidance for any patient conditions in an outpatient setting
  • Provide patient education about clinical conditions, diagnostic testing, preventative care, and prescribed treatments
  • Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision-making by providing educational tools
  • Perform initial patient screenings, obtain past medical and medication history, complete ROS
  • Function independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs
  • Analyze test data and determine the need for follow-up appointments and further treatment options
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
  • Update patient records and check records for accuracy at each patient appointment
  • Deliver quality care while maintaining all company metrics pertaining to productivity
  • Promote a safe environment

Requirements

  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in Florida
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in IM/IV skills and basic procedures
  • Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS provider card
  • Familiarity with the EHR medical charting system
  • Maintain strong and current infectious disease knowledge and practices
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to perform independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle high stress situations
  • Full immunization record must be presented before hire
