About the role

The Urgent Care Advanced Practice Provider at Prevea is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) prepared to deliver health care services to patients, families, and groups emphasizing the promotion of health and prevention of disease. Advanced Practice Providers in Urgent Care deliver prompt care for illnesses and injuries that need quick attention but do not require a visit to the emergency room. The scope of responsibility includes autonomous clinical practice as well as coordinating with physicians and other health professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assessment, evaluation, and management to patients with acute and episodic illness and injuries, and performs minor procedures.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information, documenting all details in the electronic medical record.
  • Orders appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribes pharmacological agents, and provides other non-pharmacological treatments and modalities.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other providers to develop and implement patient care plans to ensure the best possible care and outcome for patients.
  • Assists patients with medical needs and refers them to additional necessary services.
  • Conducts telephone calls and electronic communications to follow up with patients, provide test results, or give health counseling and education to patients and their families about their healthcare and follow-up instructions.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited master’s level Family Nurse Practitioner or Accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • 1-3 years of work experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).

Skills

  • Knowledge of the information and techniques required to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases, including understanding symptoms, treatment options, drug properties and interactions, and preventive healthcare measures.
  • Organizational skills that allow timely patient appointments and appropriate required follow-up.
  • Presents a courteous and service-oriented image.
