Responsibilities
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for individual patients
- Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol; prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation
- Affords assistance to physicians and performs procedures as needed
- Affords assessments of patient/family needs and provides education
- Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs
- Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice
- Completes patient charge tickets
- Serves as a resource person for the nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials
- May supervise the activities of clinical nursing
Qualifications
- Successful completion of Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program
- Nationally certified as AGNP, ANP, FNP, AGNP, or GNP
- Active State of Nevada Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or its successor organization
- Two or more years of clinical experience in outpatient oncology setting as an APP
- Preferred: AOCNP certification (Once eligible, obtainment of AOCNP certification required)
