About the role

Provides professional medical care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires working under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic/hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Aid with consults and daily visits.
  • See follow-up patients in clinic.
  • Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Review patient records.
  • Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
  • Establish presumptive diagnosis.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform independent evaluations and treatment.
  • Administer injections, immunizations, and oral medications.
  • Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
  • Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
  • Maintain monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  • Utilize practice/hospital guidelines and standardized procedures in collaboration with the supervising physician(s) in providing medical care to patients.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a PA-C or NP in the state of North Carolina and DEA license.
  • Must be able to work independently (under indirect supervision).
  • Have at least one year of post-graduate experience as a provider in related setting.
  • Experience and knowledge of an EMR system, voice dictation (Dragon) and strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.
  • Strong clinical judgment to determine when a supervising physician should be consulted.
  • Flexible and adaptable with a focus on not turning any patient away before exhausting all reasonable options.
  • Value working in a team-oriented, patient-centric culture.

Candidate Requirements

  • Confident in clinical decision-making and autonomous in providing care to patients in a fast-paced clinical practice setting.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be proactive in discussing case management.
  • Possess excellent time management and have ability to work well with patients and their families, collaborating/supervising physicians, facility staff and leadership.
  • Display a professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families, maintaining strict confidentiality in all times.
  • Display a strong sense of team commitment, which includes meeting deadlines, punctuality and excellent follow-through and feedback.
