About the role
The practitioner collaborates with physicians to expand specialized healthcare services by diagnosing and treating pediatric and congenital heart conditions.
Responsibilities
- Provide counseling and education to patients with heart failure and transplant, including families and caregivers, on health conditions, treatment options, and community resources.
- Document cardiac care and nursing processes following standards and policies.
- Participate in staff and student orientation and education.
- Obtain patient history, conduct assessments through observation, interviews, and examinations.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies; perform health assessments, screenings, and patient care.
- Manage cardiac critical care conditions through prescriptive authority or referrals, including discharge planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant with prescriptive authority in Texas, specializing in Cardiac Critical Care.
- Experience caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart diseases in a pediatric cardiac ICU.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
- Strong communication skills, sensitivity, confidentiality, and teamwork abilities.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Additional Information
The role involves manual dexterity, lifting, working around biohazards, and may require wearing protective equipment.
Pay
Salary starts at $122,000+ depending on qualifications.
