Responsibilities
- History taking, clinical assessment, physical examination
- Order entry, clinical documentation, interpretation of diagnostic studies, clinical diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care
- Completing Quality Assurance chart reviews
- Evaluating signs and symptoms, developing and reformulating differential diagnoses, assessing co-morbidities, and implementing treatment and referral orders
- Utilizing evidence-based practice and monitoring patient safety
- Participating in daily team transition huddles
- Maintaining quality of care through consultation, collaboration, continuing education, certification, and evaluation
- Improving practice and engaging in interdisciplinary peer and colleague review
- Adapting teaching and learning approaches based on physiological and psychological changes, age, developmental stage, cognitive status, readiness to learn, health literacy, the environment, and available resources
- Maintaining competencies and skills of specialty area of practice
- Demonstrating assessment skills, diagnosis with critical thinking, and implementation of a plan of care
- Advocating on behalf of the patient population and the profession through active participation in the health policy process
- Addressing the development and implementation of system policies affecting services
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies
- National Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Ohio License 50RX
- Collaborative/supervision agreement through the Ohio Medical Board, including yearly review/Quality Assurance and evaluations
Essential Functions
- High level of autonomy required
- At least 2 years of experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to communicate and relate well with staff, providers, and the public
- Awareness of patient confidentiality and ability to follow directions well from physician and work autonomously with little direction
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships and critical analysis skills
- Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work under stress
- Maintains competencies and skills of specialty area of practice
