Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - Inpatient Hematology - Rotational

Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in the State of Ohio. Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing. Master of Science Degree in Nursing. 0 years of relevant experience required; 0-2 years preferred.

OR Masters prepared; Graduate of a PA-C program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination recognized by the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA-C. 0 years of relevant experience required; 0-2 years preferred.

About the Role

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care or supervisory agreement with an attending physician member of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Collaborates with a physician(s) and other clinicians in providing a full scope of patient care. The focus is on preventive health or the management of acute and/or stable chronic conditions. Performs medical services that have been specifically authorized and directed by the credentialing body and the certifying organization through which they hold licensure.

This APP team is a unique service working on the BMT service, caring for allogeneic transplant patients throughout their entire disease process and specializing in complications such as GVHD. The team also manages cell therapy patients (CAR-T, TIL), including both clinical trials and FDA-approved therapies for hematologic and oncologic malignancies (e.g., Lung CA, Melanoma), addressing side effects that require prompt intervention. This role involves developing long-term professional relationships with patients, as they are often admitted for extended periods during initial transplant and subsequent complications.

Responsibilities

• Provides health care services to patients in collaboration with a licensed physician, including care during acute and chronic phases of illness.
• Delivers education and counseling to individuals and families.
• Promotes health and prevention through patient care and referrals to other healthcare providers or community resources as appropriate.
