Advanced Practice Provider - Neurocritical Care (Nights) - Part-Time

About the role

Join the UTHealth Department of Neurosciences as a Part-Time (50% FTE) Advanced Care Provider (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and manage patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions.
• Work night shifts within the Neurocritical Care team at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, Southwest, and Memorial City locations.
• Conduct complex, standardized patient care procedures requiring experience and specialized training.
• Order, conduct, and interpret pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.
• Perform physical examinations and provide episodic care or problem-oriented care under the supervision of a physician.
• Monitor the treatment program of the patient to inform the attending physician of pertinent medical information.
• Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals.
• Formulate, implement, and evaluate an outcome-based treatment plan.
• Maintain appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes.
• Facilitate patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
• Collaborate with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient's recovery.

Requirements

• Nurse Practitioner: Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse, Current Texas Licensure as an APRN-NP, and specialty certification as required by department.
• Physician Assistant: Current Texas Licensure as a Physician Assistant, Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified.

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner: Masters in Nursing as NP or master degree in Nursing with completion of a post-master Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.
• Physician Assistant: Master's degree as Physician Assistant. A Bachelor's degree as a Physician Assistant with at least two years of professional experience in the role is acceptable based on terminal degree requirements at the time of graduation.
