National Jewish Health is seeking an APP Manager to oversee a team of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) across designated departments and divisions. This role partners with Division Chiefs to lead APP clinical practice, standardize workweek expectations, track productivity and quality outcomes, and manage administrative functions such as onboarding, scheduling, and performance evaluations. The position includes 80% clinical practice in a specialty aligned with the incumbent’s education and training, and 20% administrative time for leadership responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage and develop an effective APP team through communication, leadership, guidance, and resources.
- Determine staff qualifications and competency: recruit, interview, select, hire, train, orient, mentor, evaluate, coach, counsel, discipline, and reward.
- Establish and monitor staff safety and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with organizational, departmental, and divisional leaders to track APP productivity and quality metrics.
- Optimize APP roles and practice models at the top of their scope in collaboration with division and interdisciplinary leaders.
- Participate in quality initiatives to identify improvements and implement necessary changes.
- Oversee new APP onboarding, orientation, continuing education, and mentorship.
- Serve as a communication liaison to APP Leads and staff regarding clinical and administrative issues.
- Represent APPs at leadership meetings and ensure their participation in the AP Council and other organizational committees.
- Contribute to APP workforce planning and program development.
- Partner with the Executive Director of Advanced Practice to establish structured onboarding, continuing education, and mentorship programs.
- Perform and document patient history, physical exams, and medical decision-making to support plans of care.
- Utilize clinical resources to support evidence-based practice decisions.
- Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and care team members to optimize patient care quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Adhere to regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and Medical Staff Bylaws governing advanced practice.
- Maintain continuing education to support clinical knowledge and competencies.
- Participate in departmental, divisional, and organizational committees, including Advanced Practice Council meetings.
- Accept additional responsibilities within the scope of the APP Manager and APP roles to support organizational priorities.
Requirements
- Graduate degree from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) program; doctoral degree preferred.
- Minimum three years of clinical experience as an APP.
- Two years of progressive leadership experience.
- Colorado RN, APRN, and RXN licensure or PA licensure required.
- Active DEA registration.
- APRN or PA certification by a national accrediting body (ANCC, PNCB, NCCPA).
- Active BLS, ACLS, or PALS certification appropriate to clinical practice area (American Heart Association).

- Travel between National Jewish Health sites as needed.
Pay
Salary range: $135,674.89 - $179,430.05.
