Job Duties
- Performs or assists with procedures of higher complexity in office, inpatient unit, operating room, or emergency department.
- May perform first assist functions in the operating room setting.
- Call coverage may be required specific to departmental needs.
- Makes rounds and provides education and instruction.
- Monitors or manages medical/invasive devices and places devices within scope of practice.
- Manages care of Pre-/post-operative and pre-/post-procedure patients.
- Conducts high-level evaluations and triage specific to the specialty/subspecialty.
- Performs physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Orders ancillary studies, makes medical decisions, and formulates comprehensive health management plans.
- Facilitates patient participation in health care decisions.
- Develops, implements, and expands programs and initiatives, including participating in research activities, quality improvement projects, etc.
- Participates in professional development opportunities and introduces innovation in practice where applicable.
- Enters pertinent clinical information in the patient’s medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with established compliance billing guidelines.
- Documents and closes open encounters, My Chart messages, and other EMR communications in accordance with institutional requirements.
- Educates and counsels patients/families regarding their health care, including routine health maintenance.
- Calls and responds to consults, handles discharge planning, and schedules procedures routinely.
- Actively participates in meetings, functions, events, and committees, as well as in a team of interdisciplinary health care providers.
- May be required to take call coverage.
Qualifications
- 2 years Critical Care, Labor & Delivery /ED/OR care settings preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Masters Nursing Practitioner required or Masters Physician Assistant program required.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure required at time of hire.
- Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in State of Florida/Georgia required at time of hire.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required at time of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred at time of hire.
- New Grads in Orthopedics must acquire DEA within 90 days of hire.
- Travel up to 25%.
