Job Duties

  • Performs or assists with procedures of higher complexity in office, inpatient unit, operating room, or emergency department.
  • May perform first assist functions in the operating room setting.
  • Call coverage may be required specific to departmental needs.
  • Makes rounds and provides education and instruction.
  • Monitors or manages medical/invasive devices and places devices within scope of practice.
  • Manages care of Pre-/post-operative and pre-/post-procedure patients.
  • Conducts high-level evaluations and triage specific to the specialty/subspecialty.
  • Performs physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Orders ancillary studies, makes medical decisions, and formulates comprehensive health management plans.
  • Facilitates patient participation in health care decisions.
  • Develops, implements, and expands programs and initiatives, including participating in research activities, quality improvement projects, etc.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities and introduces innovation in practice where applicable.
  • Enters pertinent clinical information in the patient’s medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with established compliance billing guidelines.
  • Documents and closes open encounters, My Chart messages, and other EMR communications in accordance with institutional requirements.
  • Educates and counsels patients/families regarding their health care, including routine health maintenance.
  • Calls and responds to consults, handles discharge planning, and schedules procedures routinely.
  • Actively participates in meetings, functions, events, and committees, as well as in a team of interdisciplinary health care providers.
  • May be required to take call coverage.

Qualifications

  • 2 years Critical Care, Labor & Delivery /ED/OR care settings preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Masters Nursing Practitioner required or Masters Physician Assistant program required.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure required at time of hire.
  • Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in State of Florida/Georgia required at time of hire.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required at time of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred at time of hire.
  • New Grads in Orthopedics must acquire DEA within 90 days of hire.
  • Travel up to 25%.
