About the role

The Endocrine Division of Cooper University Health Care is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their team. This position is ideal for an APP interested in focusing their career within endocrinology and working as part of a multi-specialty team.

Responsibilities

  • Function within the scope of practice as defined by the state nurses practice act and the American Nurses' Association Code of Ethics.
  • Utilize the scientific process and national standards of care as a framework for managing patient care.
  • Practice autonomously or in consultation with a collaborating/supervising physician and other health care professionals.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients’ health problems/needs.
  • Perform a patient history and physical examination to determine a working differential diagnosis and develop an individualized plan of care.
  • Order, perform, supervise, and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests.
  • Prescribe pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic therapies, where clinically indicated, in accordance with the current APP prescribing guidelines and state/federal law.
  • Provide therapeutic measures as appropriate and provide teaching, education, and counseling to individuals, families, and groups.
  • Formulate diagnoses in consultation with a collaborating/supervising physician for uncommon or unstable conditions.
  • Serve as a health care researcher, professional educator, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
  • Stay current with medical trends and provide evidence-based practice medicine by completing required continuing education as mandated by certifying organizations.

Requirements

  • Masters - Nurse Practitioner (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Licenses/Certifications: BLS required, NJ-APN & RN or NJ PA required

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the basics of the management of diabetes and thyroid disease is appreciated, but not required.
  • Experience in primary care is beneficial but not mandatory.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
