Advanced Practice Provider - Endocrinology

This role is part of our pediatric endocrinology program, providing clinical, diagnostic, and lab services for the evaluation and treatment of diabetes and other endocrine disorders in children, teens, and young adults.
About the role
As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will deliver comprehensive care at an advanced practice level to children and their families. Responsibilities include assessment, clinical management, collaboration, coordination, education, program development, research, quality improvement, and professional development. This position primarily serves outpatient clinics across multiple locations, with some inpatient coverage at Scottish Rite.
Responsibilities
- Clinical:
- Provide comprehensive patient care management within a collaborative practice model for children of all ages, under physician supervision and within state and Children’s bylaws, in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.
- Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifying normal and abnormal findings (physical, cognitive, and psychosocial).
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
- Serve as an educational resource for patients, families, healthcare professionals, and students.
- Facilitate patient referrals to other medical providers, facilities, and health/social service agencies.
- Collaborate and consult with physicians and other healthcare providers as needed.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in professional organizations.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain credentials.
- Conduct self-evaluation of advanced practice skills to ensure competent clinical care and continued growth.
- Assist in developing education for the department/practice.
- Quality and Evidence-Based Practice:
- Participate in continuous quality improvement based on professional practice standards.
- Comply with hospital/departmental policies and support National Patient Safety Goals.
Requirements
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Georgia (single-state or multi-state through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) or licensure as a Physician Assistant in Georgia.
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by ANCC, AANP, PNCB, or NCCPA (Family Nurse Practitioner certification may be acceptable with CNO approval).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire for Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants in Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Anesthesia, Hematology/Oncology, and Critical Care (NRP certification may substitute for PALS in Neonatology).
- Proficient knowledge of Georgia Scope of Practice for Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants, Joint Commission regulatory requirements, and credentialing processes.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing or bachelor’s degree in medical science.
- Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice or Master’s/Doctorate degree in Medical Science preferred.
- 2 years of experience in pediatric healthcare preferred.
- Endocrinology experience highly preferred (no minimum experience required).
