Responsibilities

  • Performs primary health care for patients by utilizing assessment and diagnosis processes.
  • Collects and prioritizes patient medical and historical information.
  • Conducts physical exams and assesses patient mental status.
  • Develops and implements treatment, follow-up, and evaluation plans.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Orders appropriate ancillary tests and derives diagnoses based on assessment data.
  • Provides telephone triage to determine patient conditions and schedules appointments as needed.
  • Administers medications and immunizations under physician oversight.
  • Prescribes medications according to DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate services as needed.
  • Evaluates patient care to determine responses and document interventions.
  • Monitors patient outcomes and returns phone calls.
  • Works collaboratively with the physician to provide patient education.
  • Maintains a professional behavior and communicates effectively with staff and patients.
  • Maintains complete patient records and documents interventions and consultations.
  • Maintains certification/licensure and follows regulatory body guidelines.
  • Participates in performance improvement and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures appropriate care for patients of different ages.
  • Provides individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.
  • Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory education requirements.
  • Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) program.
  • NIH Stroke Scale training required at hire or within 6 months of hire.
  • Prior experience working in an emergency environment preferred.
  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multi-state license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure.
  • Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP.IA) required.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification required within first year of hire.
  • Maintain current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Maintain current CME requirements to maintain ARNP licensure.

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and nursing judgment skills.
