Responsibilities
- Performs all duties under the direction and supervision of physician(s) and in accordance with established policies and procedures for inpatient hospital patients.
- Performs and accurately documents medical history and physical examinations.
- Orders and interprets laboratory, radiologic and diagnostic studies.
- Makes medical diagnosis and institutes appropriate therapy or referrals.
- Clearly communicates medical information to patients and other medical professionals.
- Arranges hospital admissions and discharges at the direction of a supervising physician.
- Performs hospital rounds, documents appropriate progress notes, completes hospital medical records as necessary.
- May require travel between local hospitals.
Working Hours
The APP hours will typically encompass 8am-5pm Monday- Friday. Also, every 6 weeks 8am-4pm Saturday and 8am-12pm Sunday. However, these hours could be extended due to patient care.
Environmental / Working Conditions
Work is performed in a hospital / clinic environment. Requires contact with patients and other providers.
Physical Demands
- Work may require hand dexterity.
- Work may require standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
- May require lifting of objects more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, reach above head, squat, bend at the waist, and twist.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant Program
- An active license from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners or Alabama Board of Nursing
- Demonstrated clinical competency
- Effective leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills
- Effective interaction to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting
- Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing
