Advanced Practice Provider - Clinic

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties under the direction and supervision of physician(s) and in accordance with established policies and procedures for inpatient hospital patients.
• Performs and accurately documents medical history and physical examinations.
• Orders and interprets laboratory, radiologic and diagnostic studies.
• Makes medical diagnosis and institutes appropriate therapy or referrals.
• Clearly communicates medical information to patients and other medical professionals.
• Arranges hospital admissions and discharges at the direction of a supervising physician.
• Performs hospital rounds, documents appropriate progress notes, completes hospital medical records as necessary.
• May require travel between local hospitals.

Working Hours

The APP hours will typically encompass 8am-5pm Monday- Friday. Also, every 6 weeks 8am-4pm Saturday and 8am-12pm Sunday. However, these hours could be extended due to patient care.

Environmental / Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hospital / clinic environment. Requires contact with patients and other providers.

Physical Demands

• Work may require hand dexterity.
• Work may require standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
• May require lifting of objects more than 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, reach above head, squat, bend at the waist, and twist.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant Program
• An active license from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners or Alabama Board of Nursing
• Demonstrated clinical competency
• Effective leadership skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills
• Effective interaction to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting
• Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing
