About the role

The UHealth Department of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is seeking an APRN to join the Transplant Pulmonology program at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The role involves assessing patients' physical and psychosocial status, assisting physicians with medical procedures, and managing care for lung and lung transplant patients at the Miami Transplant Institute (MTI).

Responsibilities

  • Perform consults and daily follow-up progress notes.
  • Recognize deviations from normal in physical assessments and collaborate with physicians to formulate treatment plans.
  • Write prescriptions for medication, blood products, and post-discharge care based on laboratory results and diagnostic studies, following written practice protocols.
  • Initiate and facilitate clinical research protocols and coordinate patient care with research staff.
  • Obtain complete medical histories independently and order appropriate laboratory tests according to practice guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans tailored to individual and family needs.
  • Actively participate in quality assurance programs and peer review activities.
  • Provide assistance to physicians in patient care and treatment, including triaging and implementing care.
  • Administer nursing assessments, including examinations, injections, and health status evaluations.
  • Assess the severity of patients' conditions and direct them to appropriate medical providers.
  • Evaluate and manage care for lung and lung transplant patients at the Miami Transplant Institute (MTI).
  • Conduct history taking, physical examinations, and order/interpret diagnostic testing for respiratory-related illnesses.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and outpatient care in collaboration with the Inpatient Attending.
  • Provide patient education and conduct clinical and telephone follow-ups.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Valid State of Florida APRN License.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
