Advanced Practice Provider (Acute Care NP/PA) Heart Failure II, Hillcrest (East Region)

About the role

Full-time opportunity for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Heart Failure team at Hillcrest Hospital within the Regional Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute. Responsibilities include heart failure ICU and floor patient care management, as well as outpatient clinic follow-up for the heart failure patient population.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough medical histories and perform complete physical examinations as indicated
• Initiate and interpret lab, radiology, and other diagnostic tests to evaluate illness and develop treatment plans
• Perform and interpret common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic, and other routine diagnostic procedures as credentialed and privileged
• Prescribe and monitor medications within applicable state board and Cleveland Clinic policies
• Educate patients about disease, treatments, side effects, and hazards
• Participate in medical team rounds and collaborate regularly with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members
• Refer patients to specialists and ensure continuity of care across multidisciplinary teams
• Monitor quality of care through periodic review of records and treatment plans
• Facilitate appropriate length of stay, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance for inpatient management
• Support professional development of the healthcare team and promote evidence-based practices
• May conduct research studies, assist in data collection and analysis, serve as a clinical preceptor, or onboard new caregivers

Requirements

• Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider with primary or specialty care experience
• Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in applicable state(s) and as an RN in applicable state(s)
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally accredited organization recognized by the state Board of Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA or American Red Cross required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) may be required based on work setting
• Must have physician arrangements in accordance with state Board of Nursing requirements
• Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of applicable hospitals

Education

• MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN licensed role to an APRN licensed role
• Graduate of an accredited APRN program
• Master’s Degree required upon hire if in neonatal care service area

Certifications

• Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in applicable state(s)
• Must be licensed as an RN in applicable state(s)
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally accredited organization recognized by the state Board of Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through AHA; or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) may be required based upon work setting
• Must have arrangements with at least one physician in accordance with state Board of Nursing requirements
• Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals

Work Experience

• Related clinical experience preferred
• Minimum 3 years of Cardiology experience required for sign-on bonus eligibility
• Acute Care NP preferred; open to new graduates licensed with cardiac medicine rotation or experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to perform physical examinations
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range
• Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds
• May require exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids

Pay

• Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00
• Maximum Annual Salary: $173,220.00
• Actual compensation may be higher or lower than the standard range depending on job responsibilities, experience, skills, scheduling requirements, education, and area of licensure

Schedule

• Days, 5-8s with one weekend rounding per month
• No nights or call
