About the role

The VA Fargo Healthcare System is recruiting (1) full-time Advanced Practice Nurse-Urology. The Urology Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an important member of the urology team. The incumbent functions as an agent of the Urologist, providing patient care as an extender of the Supervising Physician's practice. As an agent of the Collaborating Physician, the NP functions within defined levels of autonomy as outlined in the scope of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Performing initial and follow-up history and physical examinations, screening outpatients and providing ongoing care, ordering diagnostic tests and consultations, accompanying Urologist on daily rounds of inpatients, writing discharge orders under the direction of the Urologist, providing education and counseling to patients and families, and performing urology treatment.
  • Entering accurate, complete, timely progress notes for each episode of care in the patient's electronic record.
  • Maintaining supplies, equipment and clinical areas to optimize safety and efficiency.
  • Demonstrating knowledge and maintaining standards in the use and reprocessing of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME).
  • Participating in performance improvement activities, disaster preparedness, administrative duties, and other responsibilities assigned.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner)
  • Education: Post-master's certificate or master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Active, current, full, and unrestricted APN license to practice as an NP in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Basic board certification in one of the following: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), or Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (GNP).
