About the role
Perform applicant physical examinations in accordance with agency standards and assist with applicant medical processing at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).
Ensure the confidentiality of applicants is respected and that professionalism is maintained at all times in the medical department.
Perform applicant medical prescreening as directed by the Chief Medical Officer.
Conduct complete face-to-face medical histories on applicants who have completed the prescreen process and have been authorized to process.
Complete all computer and non-computer based medical documentation in accordance with the Command's software packages and policies.
Verify problems or conditions alleged by the examinees and recommend to Command physicians if a more detailed physical exam of problem areas is required.
Prepare electronic and non-electronic documentation used to assess the applicant’s mental and physical fitness for service in the military.
Perform physical inspections of previously qualified applicants to document their status for meeting standards at the time of actual enlistment on active duty and at any other time as required.
Perform a variety of professional direct health care duties within the field of general medicine.
Requirements
- Conditions of employment: Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security investigation.
- Experience: All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Qualifications: Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
- Additional requirements: Occasional shift work (before 0600 or after 1800 hours) may be required. Occasionally may be required to work Saturdays. This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.

- Basic Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner): Education - A graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. Licensure - Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Additional Licensure Requirement - Applicants must possess licensure or registration by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position.
- Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before.
Additional Information
- Foreign Degree: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
- Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
