Job Overview Nurse Practitioner, Lactation Consultant The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse position is to serve as an expert in the delivery of advanced nursing care in outpatient lactation services. Schedule 3 Days a week, schedule to be determined with other providers8:30 - 4:30 Qualifications Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of New JerseyCurrent Advance Practice Nursing licensure in the State of New JerseyCurrent CDS and DEA requiredMaster's degree in nursing requiredCertified as a nurse practitioner in the State of New Jersey within area of specialtyBLS certification, as approved by the American Heart AssociationCurrent IBCLC certification, or certification to be obtained within 12 months of hireTwo years experience in maternal/child health is strongly preferred Essential Functions As an APRN you will play a crucial role in delivering direct antepartum and postpartum lactation support and education to both patients and staff, ensuring that high-quality, cost effective services are providedUtilization of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine s Protocols to provide evidence-based careResponsibility for offering comprehensive, advanced and specialized health services throughout the continuum of the patient s lactation experienceAssess breastfeeding difficulties and collaborate with healthcare providers to create individualized action plans for patientsAssess and monitor physical health needs of patientsWork collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary teamResponsibility for clinical documentation that is current and meets the standards of practiceIdentifying risk factors and implement appropriate prevention and interventionAssist with planning, developing and implementing of patient education activities, as appropriate to the ages of the patient's growth and development through the life cycle factorsDemonstrate competency in knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to specific age-related populationsAct as clinical resource to other nursing staff in area of specializationDemonstrate knowledge of and utilize appropriate community resourcesAssist with setting and revising practice policiesAssist with routine paperwork RWJBarnabas Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer
