Job Summary/Basic Function
The Physics and Astronomy department is hiring an undergraduate student to aid in the organization, design, build, and implementation of equipment to streamline the Advanced Labs mission. The student should have experience in soldering, making circuit boards, building optical instrumentation, and using tools.
Required Qualifications
- Completed PHYS 2010/2210, PHYS 2020/2220, and PHYS 3190
- Laboratory aides may need to complete training sessions on a regular basis.
- An interest in physics as well as in teaching others.
- A basic understanding of data collection, spreadsheets, and computer skills.
- A good understanding of scientific and math concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Physics experience preferred.
- Hiring preference will be given to those who have worked previously as Physics Department lab aides or those who are knowledgeable in the care, handling, and use of physics laboratory equipment.
