Advanced Nursing Extern

About the role

The Advanced Nursing Extern will provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Duties and responsibilities are limited to those that fall under the scope of practice of unlicensed health care providers acting under the direction of a licensed nurse as per the Alabama Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Support the department of Nursing
• Select technical skills
• Data collection
• Laboratory specimen collection
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program
• Completed a minimum of Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration in Nursing School
• BLS certification required

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software
• Strong team leadership skills
• Strong organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to remain calm in difficult situations
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Proven track record of successful performance
• Ability to understand complex multifactor situations and bring appropriate solutions
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
