Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to solve materials and processes problems for both design and manufacturing.
  • Provide direct support to program design activity, including material and process selection, completing customer deliverables (i.e., material and process analysis and test reports), and technical problem-solving during development, qualification, and production phases.
  • Review customer- and Honeywell-generated requirements to ensure cost effective approaches and to verify performance and environmental requirements are met.
  • Develop and execute material and process evaluation test plans (e.g., flammability, fungus, hazardous materials).
  • Provide program / customer interface and communications to assure clarity and confidence for all projects, actions, and deliverables.
  • Function as the primary technical interface for materials and process-related issues for specific programs, and the ability to engage other technical materials and process experts for problem solving where assistance may be needed.
  • Provide technical expertise to support Aero special process teams and team activities, including supplier technical process audits and technical problem solving.
  • Deploy technical expertise in generation, review and maintenance of site, Aero, and industry specifications.
  • Determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions for special process audit findings and other non-conformances.
  • Perform failure analysis, determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions, and implement corrective actions, including application of six sigma tools.
  • Provide technical support and leadership of special projects related to materials obsolescence, product / process improvement, technology development, etc.
  • Perform trade studies to evaluate suitability, reliability, and failure characteristics of materials and assemblies.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Applied Science, or Science.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience working in materials and process design and applications roles.
  • Preferred Master’s degree or other advanced degree.
  • Experience with materials and process design and applications roles supporting aerospace hardware.
  • Direct experience with electronics processes (e.g., printed boards, printed board assembly, conformal coating, cable and wire harness assembly).
  • Direct experience with other materials and processes used in electronic box assembly (e.g., adhesives, elastomers, sealants, molding, potting, bonding, painting, torquing of threaded fasteners, mechanical assembly).
  • Direct experience with industry, military, and aerospace specifications.
  • Direct experience in auditing systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Direct experience in project leadership and achieving results through use of influence, negotiation, and persuasion.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools, processes, and methodologies including RCCA.
  • Strong focus on task completion and exceeding expectations.
  • Strong focus on problem solving.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills to enable interface with programs and their customers.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and with respect to generating reports, charts, graphs, etc.
