Advanced Manufacturing Engineer- Machining
About the role
This role serves as on-site technical representative of the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team, acting as primary local owner of Aluminum Hubs and Iron Drum machining of wheel end products. This person is responsible of machining equipment, tooling and inspection specifications, validation and change readiness at the Monroe, USA and Monterrey, Mexico machining facilities.
Key Duties
- Machining process Specification
- Ensure hub and drum machining process are standard, bring the existing process to standard, machining parameters, cutting tools, chucks/fixtures as per engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Review and develop AME equipment and process specification for each type of machining process.
- Support new CNC machine and automation procurement as per capex. All aspects of procurement, justification, vendor management, installation, validation testing.
- New Product Launch and Product Change Readiness
- Lead machining process (equipment, tooling, and inspection) aspects of engineering changes to support launch readiness and process capability improvements.
- Build relationships with local tooling vendors and lead procurement activities as needed.
- Collaborate with the plant manufacturing engineering, operations, and quality to align modification timing with launch schedule and production readiness requirements.
- Inspection and SPC support
- Collaborate with Plant Quality Engineering for measurement methods, capable inspection (GR&R < 10%) equipment, and standardization.
- Review SPC for wheel end products and provide technical support to achieve and maintain Cpk> 1,33 for all critical parameters as per product specification and engineering standards.
- Provide technical support to root-cause investigations for equipment, tooling-contributed, gauging related issues during new process development or change implementation phases.
- Continuous Improvement and Reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve machining process to increase yield, extend tooling life, and lower scrap rates to enhance process capability for future launches and changes.
- Provide weekly/monthly reports and data to the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Team (equipment status, tooling status, open issues, improvement projects).
- Support lean initiatives, 5S, and safety standards.
Skills
Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and inspection specifications. Proficiency in GD&T and ability to develop and validate process specifications. Experience with new machine procurement and automation. Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Pay
A competitive salary paid weekly. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience. Targeted annual bonus is based on company performance to objectives during the fiscal plan year which runs from October 1 - September 30.
