Job Responsibilities
- Provide manufacturing support and input to design engineering.
- Review proposed engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommend revisions as necessary to ensure Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
- Review drawings for manufacturing using the PTC Windchill environment.
- Actively participate in the new product development and launch process.
- Design, Plan and Coordinate new product shipping racks and solutions.
- Provide build support during pilot build activities at suppliers and truck factories.
- Inform and coordinate new designs, processes and tools with plant.
- Coverall plant input and feedback.
- Provide manufacturing input to design engineers using Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools.
- Support engineering in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Lead Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Participate and lead manufacturing technical, concept, and design reviews.
- Advocate for and drive the adoption of technology-based systems to enhance quality initiatives related to option complexity and part traceability.
- Facilitate Continuous Improvement activities using six sigma methodologies.
- Support the supplier selection process by compiling part logistics cost analysis.
- Coordinate development of capital tooling/budget proposals.
- Compile labor studies and support production with line balancing activities.
Job Responsibilities Cont.
- Support supplier tooling interfaces up to and including PPAP and production launch.
- Work with various groups to investigate, propose, and implement improvements to equipment and processes to improve quality, optimize processes, increase productivity, and reduce costs.
- Improve safety and ergonomic practices through part and assembly design.
- Keep customers, managers, and peers informed of work progress, activities, problems, and opportunities.
- Remain abreast of upcoming changes and impact to plant processes.
- Develop and maintain clear communication with plant employees and supervisors.
- Solicit and coordinate plant input and feedback.
- Drive Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and implement solutions to improve future product deployments.
- Document issues in the Production Liaison Report (PLR) system.
- Review and approve design engineering drawings.
- Support and actively participate in PCP Tollgate process.
- Active participation in Advanced ME group Six Sigma initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
- 1 to 3 years of manufacturing/industrial engineering or design for manufacturability experience
