Responsibilities
- Lead capital equipment and tooling projects from concept through specification, supplier selection, design review, installation, qualification, and launch.
- Develop and improve assembly and metal fabrication processes to support safety, quality, throughput, and labor efficiency goals.
- Partner with product engineering to ensure Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles are incorporated into product and process design.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, EHS, quality, and industrial engineering teams to implement robust, safe, and efficient manufacturing solutions.
- Support new product introductions by ensuring manufacturing readiness, process capability, and successful integration into the production environment.
- Work with automation and robotics engineers and external suppliers to develop cost-effective automation solutions.
- Drive equipment reliability and process robustness to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and minimize downtime.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including control plans, work instructions, and process standards.
- Train operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree
- 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing equipment and processes
Desired Characteristics
- GE Appliances’ program graduate (SCDP, AEDP or other) strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment, tooling, and production processes
- Experience working in a cross-functional manufacturing environment with operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods
- Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing, preferably in appliance, automotive, or consumer durable goods industries
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) or product launch activities
- Experience with capital equipment procurement, installation, and qualification
- Experience with assembly processes, metal fabrication, workstation design, and material presentation
- Experience with automation, robotics, or semi-automated manufacturing systems
- Familiarity with GD&T, DFMA, TPM, OEE, control plans, and process documentation
- Prior experience with Creo or SolidWorks or equivalent tools
Working Conditions
- This position is primarily based in Louisville, KY, but requires travel to other locations as needed.
- The primary work schedule is the 1st shift; however, occasional support during weekends, 2nd, and 3rd shifts may be necessary.
- Work involves frequent walking in a manufacturing plant environment.
- Work may involve lifting materials and products up to 30 pounds.
