Advanced Lead Engineer – Embedded Software Development

Are you an experienced Embedded Software Engineer looking to work on next-generation aerospace technologies? We are seeking an Advanced Lead Engineer – Embedded Software Development to join a highly skilled aerospace engineering team developing mission-critical embedded software solutions. This role will lead the design, development, integration, and testing of embedded software systems supporting advanced aerospace applications. What You’ll Do Design, develop, and test embedded software, firmware, and real-time systems Develop software for embedded applications, operating systems, networking, cybersecurity, and application layers Support hardware/software integration with microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGA-based systems, and embedded architectures Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle Mentor engineers and drive engineering best practices Support system integration, verification, validation, and troubleshooting activities Required Qualifications 5+ years of embedded software development experience Strong C and/or ADA programming experience Experience developing embedded systems and real-time applications Experience across the full software development lifecycle Proficiency with C Programming, Python, and Shell Scripting Experience with embedded development tools (debuggers, emulators, compilers) Knowledge of microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGA-based systems, and hardware/software integration Experience with communication protocols such a CAN, ARINC 429, or MIL-STD-1553 U.S. Citizenship Required Preferred Experience DO-178B/C aerospace software development Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and Hypervisor technologies Xilinx Standalone Operating Environment Network driver development Safety-critical aerospace software development Technical leadership or project leadership experience Location & Relocation This position is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
