Responsibilities
- Attends and completes all required didactic training courses
- Completes all required supervised imaging procedures and documents them according to ARRT guidelines
- Performs and addresses the following tasks in each procedure:
- Patients preparation and education
- Provides for patient comfort and cooperation by familiarizing patient with the equipment and procedure, stressing the need for cooperation, and by providing general psychological support
- Solicits and records patient clinical history relevant to the performance and interpretation of imaging procedure
- Documents clinical information for radiologists
- Responds to patient questions
- Selects appropriate equipment and exposure factors for imaging procedures
- Positions patient and equipment to provide desired imaging
- Evaluates images to ensure they contain proper identification and are of diagnostic quality
- Actively participates in the performance, evaluation, and recording of all quality control tests outlined by the ARRT
- Accurately follows all established imaging protocols for exams being performed
- Adheres to the Radiation Safety Policies and the principles of a viable dose reduction program
- Becomes certified by the ARRT within 3 months of completing the training program
Qualifications
- Minimum Education Required: Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program
- Minimum Experience Required: None
- Minimum Licensure/Certification Required by Law: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Additional Qualifications: BLS certified
