About The Role

American Stone is hiring two full-time Advanced Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanics to maintain and repair quarry equipment and fleet vehicles. These positions are based in the Burley/Oakley, Idaho area and support our Mountain Yard quarry operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on quarry equipment and fleet vehicles
  • Independently diagnose and repair complex diesel engine and heavy equipment issues
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, brake, steering, suspension, and transmission systems
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues in the shop and in the field
  • Complete major equipment repairs safely and efficiently
  • Determine the parts, tools, and materials needed to complete repairs
  • Test equipment after repairs to ensure it is operating safely and correctly
  • Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance, and repair records
  • Train and provide hands-on guidance to less-experienced mechanics
  • Help other mechanics improve their diagnostic and repair skills
  • Follow company safety procedures and report equipment safety concerns
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition

Qualifications

  • Advanced professional experience repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspension, and transmissions
  • Ability to independently diagnose and complete complex repairs
  • Ability to take ownership of a repair from diagnosis through final testing
  • Ability to train, mentor, or guide less-experienced mechanics
  • Ability to safely use diagnostic equipment, mechanic tools, and shop equipment
  • Ability to perform physical work and lift heavy objects
  • Ability to work in a quarry environment and complete field repairs when needed
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to pass drug screening

Schedule

This is a full-time position working primarily daylight hours. Some Saturdays may be required depending on operational needs. Sundays off.
