About the role
The Physician HTPN examines and treats patients, taking histories, requesting tests, diagnosing, and prescribing treatments. They administer vaccinations, perform follow-up exams, and educate patients on disease prevention and health maintenance. They supervise clinical activities of allied health and advanced practice professionals.
Responsibilities
- Examine, record, and maintain patient information, including medical histories and test results.
- Prescribe or administer treatments, medications, and vaccinations.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
- Collaborate with a clinical team to make diagnostic and treatment decisions.
- Monitor and reevaluate patient progress and adjust treatments as needed.
- Diagnose and treat conditions within their specialty; may perform surgical or non-invasive procedures.
- Develop post-operative care plans and recommend lifestyle modifications.
- Supervise clinical activities of healthcare providers and support staff.
Qualifications and Skills
Strong diagnostic and clinical skills, ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and supervisory capabilities. Knowledge of patient care protocols and medical procedures in their specialty area is essential.
