Advance Practice Provider - PD Day Surgery Somerset

Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider is an independent health care provider who coordinates care through collaboration with the attending Physician. The PA or APN provides care in accordance with the objectives, policies, and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent high quality perioperative and postoperative care for all surgery patients
• Function as an active member of the surgery patient care team
• Surgical first assisting
• Perioperative and postoperative management
• Hospital rounds on inpatients
• Emergency room consultations
• Assist with inpatient daily rounds
• Thoroughly explains procedures to patients prior to testing
• Perform appropriate interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic testing
• Responsible for discharging patients in collaboration with the attending
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills, communicate effectively, and demonstrate time management
• Perform cross coverage of the critical care unit as needed
• Coordinate care independently and coordinate with the bedside nurse, attending physician, and other consulting providers
• Celebrate compassionately with patients across different areas of care

Requirements

• APN or NP
• Acute care certification preferred
• 2 years acute care hospital experience preferred
• Current APN or PA certification
• Current NJ state license CDS and DEA
• Current BLS/ACLS required
