Advance Practice Provider (NP/PA/CNS): Inpatient General Surgery II

About the role

Advance Practice Providers (NPs, PAs, CNSs) provide exceptional care in the Inpatient General Surgery II unit at Mercy Hospital. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations.
• Interpret lab results and develop treatment plans.
• Prescribe and monitor medications as permitted by license.
• Educate patients about their conditions and treatments.
• Collaborate with nursing and other healthcare professionals.
• Refer patients to specialists as needed.
• Ensure continuity of care and discharge planning.
• Support professional development of the healthcare team.
• Participate in research and teaching activities.
• Assist in research studies and data collection.
• Onboard new caregivers and assist with clinical preceptorship.

Requirements

• Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist in applicable states.
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist by a nationally accredited organization recognized by the state Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
• Credentialing and privileging by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, or Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred.
• Experience in inpatient general surgery settings preferred.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a stressful environment.

Pay

Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00 Maximum Annual Salary: $173,220.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation may be higher or lower based on factors such as job responsibilities, relevant experience, and area of licensure.
