About the Role

The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) provides comprehensive, patient-centered primary care services at Archer Family Health Care (AFHC), a nurse-led rural health clinic operated by the University of Florida College of Nursing. As a key member of an integrated, interprofessional healthcare team, the ARNP delivers high-quality, evidence-based care to patients across the lifespan, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, wellness, and the management of acute and chronic health conditions.

The ARNP is responsible for independently evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients in accordance with Florida statutes, professional practice standards, clinical guidelines, and organizational policies. The role supports the academic mission of the College of Nursing by serving as a preceptor and clinical educator for graduate nursing students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients across the lifespan, including:
    • Obtaining detailed medical, social, family, and medication histories
    • Conducting comprehensive and focused physical examinations
    • Assessing health risks and preventive care needs
    • Evaluating acute and chronic health conditions
  • Develop differential diagnoses and individualized plans of care based on clinical findings and evidence-based practice guidelines.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, progress notes, procedures, and follow-up recommendations in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Order, perform, and interpret laboratory, diagnostic, and screening tests as clinically indicated.
  • Analyze diagnostic findings to formulate diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
  • Communicate test results and treatment options to patients and families, providing education regarding disease management, health promotion, and preventive care.
  • Develop, implement, and manage treatment plans for acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and complex health conditions.
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions in accordance with state regulations and clinical protocols.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialty providers and ensure continuity of care through appropriate follow-up and care coordination activities.
  • Perform outpatient clinical procedures within scope of practice, including:
    • Skin biopsies and lesion removals
    • Cervical cancer screenings and Pap smears
    • Intrauterine device (IUD) insertions and removals
    • Nexplanon insertions and removals
    • Basic wound repair and suturing
    • Incision and drainage procedures
  • Serve as a clinical preceptor and educator for graduate nursing students by providing supervision, instruction, mentorship, and evaluation in the delivery of primary care services.
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, provider meetings, case conferences, and care coordination activities.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, population health efforts, evidence-based practice projects, and program evaluation activities.
  • Maintain current licensure, certification, and clinical competencies through continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Support clinic operations, policy implementation, accreditation standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Participate in community outreach, health promotion activities, and other initiatives that advance the mission of Archer Family Health Care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with a major in nursing or another health-related area.
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interprofessional team.
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, staff, and the public.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and the behaviors necessary to handle confidential materials.
  • Knowledge of the EPIC electronic health record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
  • Board certification or eligibility to apply for exam as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Two years of primary care experience.
  • Rural health care experience.
  • Precepting experience.

Schedule

The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position requires flexibility to work assigned shifts during the clinic's operating hours, including days, evenings, and weekends. Employees are expected to work 40 hours per week. Work schedules may vary and are subject to adjustment based on patient care needs, clinic operations, staffing requirements, and coverage needs.

Pay

Expected salary: $115,000 annually.
