Adv Practice Provider
Communication
Consult, advise, and coordinate with the Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Leadership team, and Learning & Development team to support the development and sustainment of an effective clinical team. Maintain knowledge of clinical donor management best practices and serve as a consultant in the development and review of educational materials provided to the clinical team.
Function as a stand-in for the Chief Medical Officer with external partners regarding donor case reviews, implementation of EMR order sets, and hospital policies. Participate in active donor team huddles. Act as a resource to clinical specialists and the Chief Medical Director.
Time Management
Lead oversight of simulation-based training scenarios and support implantation of simulation exercises for clinical staff initial proficiency sign-off. In partnership with the Learning & Development team and Clinical Leadership, develop, periodically evaluate, and deliver ongoing education curriculum used to train Senior and Advanced Practice clinical staff.
Attention to Detail
Maintain knowledge of department quality assurance standards, processes, and procedures, including identifying and correcting errors to support compliance and operational excellence.
Perform moderately complex testing with portable bedside laboratory devices in accordance with CLIA standards of practice, including echocardiography, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, and EKG interpretation under the direction of the Chief Medical Director.
Complete comprehensive hospital medical record reviews, including history of present illness, past medical history, malignancy screening, and surgical interventions at donor case initiation.
Problem-Solving
Participate in and lead case reviews to access opportunities for improvement related to clinical donor management and research initiatives.
Function as a consultant, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, in the assessment of patient suitability when further clinical insight is required by the clinical leader on call (MOC).
Accountability
Take calls as a representative of the Chief Medical Officer to oversee effective donor management and collaboratively guide the clinical team to optimize organ function and maximize organs transplanted per donor.
Review donor chart documentation and collaborate with case specialists and Organ Recovery Coordinators to develop daily donor evaluation plans.
Conflict Resolution
Collaborate with leadership team members to ensure all affected staff demonstrate acceptable levels of competency.
Coaching & Feedback
Effectively and professionally train Organ Recovery Coordinators (ORCs) on advanced practice procedures aligned with training plans, including bronchoscopy, line placement, and other advanced clinical interventions.
Provide staff with continuous training and updates on department protocols, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements related to all aspects of Southwest Transplant Alliance processes, from referral through case completion.
Collaboration & Influence
Collaborate with leadership team members to identify, define, and develop data-driven ongoing skills-based training, annual competency programs, and learning objectives for staff.
Performance Management
Participate in process improvement and data development projects, including case reviews and research opportunities.
Decision Making
Act as a clinical consultant and subject matter expert to support donor suitability evaluations, organ optimization strategies, and operational decisions requiring advanced clinical judgement.
Process Improvement
Proactively identify and recommend improvements to clinical processes and procedures.
